Steve Yockey

Steve Yockey
(Playwright) is a member of Atlanta’s Out of Hand Theater and a regular fixture at Dad’s Garage Theatre Company with the full-lengths Sleepy and Skin and in the annual 8 1/2x11 series: Stop Motion (2004), Swallow (2005), Snuff Film (2006), and Sucker Punch (2007) - all commissioned/ directed by frequent collaborator Kate Warner. Other works include the plays Bellwether, Tsuru: a ghost story, CARTOON, Heavier than…, and Adoration, the short films Medusa, Cake, Sucker Punch, and the feature Salvage. Steve is a Phi Beta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Georgia and holds an MFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.

   
Kate Warner

Kate Warner
(Director) is the Artistic Director of Dad’s Garage Theatre Company in Atlanta, GA. She is dedicated to the creation of new theatre, attracting new audiences through innovative stage work and amazing comedy improv, and genuinely entertaining anyone who walks through the door.  Kate was Artistic Associate with Dad’s Garage from 2002-2004 before taking the reigns as Artistic Director in 2005.  Her body of directorial work for Dad’s Garage includes: Debbie Does Dallas, The Rocky Horror Show, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Reefer Madness, Skin, and The Jammer.  Kate has commissioned (and often directed) new work from playwrights such as Lisa Kron, Alice Tuan, Kyle Jarrow, Megan Gogerty, David J (Bauhaus), Caridad Svich, Ross Maxwell, John Pierson, Steve Yockey, Heather Woodbury, Chay Yew and Greg Kotis as well as spearheaded the development of the Top Shelf series which focuses on new work from the Dad’s Garage artistic family.  Kate was the previous Managing Director/Artistic Associate with Atlanta’s Theatrical Outfit, which in December of 2004 moved into its new $5.4 million home, a renovated downtown Atlanta landmark, thus completing an award-winning strategic plan.  Kate is a board member of Theatre Communications Group, a member of the CHRIS Kids Rainbow Advisory Board, a member of the Kennesaw State University Theatre Advisory board, a member and facilitator of the Lincoln Center Theatre Directors’ Lab in New York, a member and panelist of the Directors Lab West in Los Angeles, and a member of the Society for Stage Directors and Choreographers. She is a graduate of Kalamazoo College, Kalamazoo, MI with degrees in Theatre and Anthropology.

(Telegram Delivery Boy) is thrilled to be making his Magic Theatre debut.  Credits include A Skull in Connemara, What The Butler Saw (B Street Theatre); A Midsummer Night's Dream (San Francisco Shakespeare Festival); Restoration Comedy, The Tempest, and Nicholas Nickleby Part 2 (CalShakes); Serjeant Musgrave's Dance and Loveplay (TheatreFIRST); Romeo & Juliet and Measure for Measure (Harlequin Productions, WA); Cabaret (Shotgun Players); The Shrew Tamed (Northern Stage, VT); A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Artemis and The Wild Things, Central Park, New York); Hay Fever, Henry VI Parts 1 & 2, and Taming of The Shrew (Pacific Repertory Theatre).  London credits include Shadow of a Gunman, Dangerous Liaisons, and Blood Wedding.  Rowan received his 3-Year Acting Diploma from The Oxford School of Drama, UK.

   
Brad Erickson

Brad Erickson
(Andy) is delighted to be making his debut at the Magic.  Brad serves as Executive Director of Theatre Bay Area, the nation’s largest regional performing arts service organization.  His play Woody & Me was named best new play in the 2000 Festival of Emerging American Theatre and premiered at the Phoenix Theatre in Indianapolis.   His play, The War at Home, premiered at New Conservatory Theatre Center in 2006 and won “Best New Script” from the Bay Area Theatre Critics’ Circle.  Brad holds a BFA in Acting from the Goodman School of Drama, now the Theatre School of DePaul University.

   
Eric Kerr

Eric Kerr
(Kevin) Originally from the East Coast, Eric holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre with a concentration in directing, specializing in Asian theatre and dance, from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  He has studied in Italy at The Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards, working with Obie-award winning director Lawrence Sacharow, Butoh dancer Dawn Akemi-Saito, and Richard Armstrong of the Roy Hart Theatre. He has also had the pleasure to work with Butoh dancer Katsura Kan and David Dorfman.  Locally, he has worked with elastic future and is a member of the Black Stone Ensemble, a movement-based performance group. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at AIMC, Berkeley.

   
Liam Vincent

Liam Vincent*
(Max) was most recently seen in Dead Mother at Traveling Jewish Theatre, Lovers and Executioners at the Marin Theatre Company, and King Lear and Richard III at the California Shakespeare Theatre.  At the Magic, he performed in Silence and Body Familiar by Joe Goode. Other credits include productions at San Jose Rep, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, Portland Center Stage, the Alliance, Arizona Theater Company, Huntington Theatre, Pasadena Playhouse, SoHo Rep, The Civilians, Word for Word, Center Rep, Thick Description, Campo Santo, San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, and Encore Theatre Company. He is a graduate of Boston University.

Jarrod Fischer
(Light Designer) is a lighting designer who has worked with Shotgun Players, Aurora Theatre, Willows, Marin Theater Company, Lorriane Hansberry Theater, Just Theater, and Killing My Lobster, to name a few.  He’s a resident artist with Crowded Fire, and people said especially nice things about his designs for Anna Bella Eema and Gone with them.  By day, Jarrod is a preschool teacher and master’s candidate in early childhood education.

Erik Flatmo+
(Set Designer) Erik Flatmo’s projects at Magic Theatre include The Crowd You’re In With, The Hopper Collection, The God of Hell, and Luminescence Dating, a co-production with ACT. Also at ACT, he recently designed The Government Inspector and The Imaginary Invalid.  Regional theatre credits include work with Asolo Repertory Theatre (Florida), California Shakespeare Festival, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, and Yale Repertory Theatre. He has designed for San Francisco Opera’s Merola Program and is a frequent collaborator with choreographer Joe Goode. Upcoming projects include Uncle Vanya at CalShakes and Eugene Onegin at Opera San Jose. He is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama and teaches set design at Stanford University.

Sara Huddleston 
(Sound Designer / Production Director) With a background in scenic and sound design, Sara joined the Magic staff in March ‘07 as their Production Director and Resident Sound Designer.  Bay Area sound design credits include: In On It and American Suicide (Encore Theatre Company); The Shaker Chair (Encore Theatre Company/Shotgun Players); Mrs. Warren’s Profession (Shotgun Players); The Joan Rivers Theatre Project, Expedition 6, The Crowd You’re In With, Tir Na nÓg (“Land of Youth”), and Monkey Room (Magic Theatre).

Angela Nostrand*
(Stage Manager) is thrilled to return to the Magic. Recent credits include: Tir na nÓg, The Crowd You’re In With, Expedition 6, The Long Christmas Ride Home, and The God of Hell (Magic Theatre); Bosoms and Neglect, Private Jokes, Public Places, and The Price (Aurora); Restoration Comedy (Standford Summer Theatre); Charlie Cox Runs with Scissors and The Pavilion (Marin Theatre Company); Family Alchemy and Rose (Traveling Jewish Theatre); The Wonderful Story of Zaal, The Killing Blanket, and The Master Maid (Word for Word’s School and Library Tour); Lily’s Purple Plastic Purse, The Laramie Project, The Last Train to Nibroc, The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife and others (The B Street Theatre); and The People’s Temple (Berkeley Rep).

Alexae Visel
(Costume Designer) is delighted to be designing for Magic Theatre.  Her favorite design credits include A Song for Vanya with Sonoma County Rep, A Midsummer Night’s Dream with SF Conservatory of Music, and The Great Celestial Cow with TheatreFirst.  Upcoming projects include Troilus & Cressida and A Comedy of Errors with Pacific Repertory Theater.  Alexae has not won any Tonys or Oscars yet, but hopes to do so soon in order to jazz up future biographies like this one.
