Robertson Dean* (Jamie) spent the first 15 years of his career playing classical roles in almost every regional theatre in the country. Off-Broadway work followed including a year-long run in Simon Gray’s The Common Pursuit. On Broadway, he appeared with Peter O'Toole in Pygmalion and with the great Rex Harrison in The Circle. Mr. Dean is now a leading actor with LA’s acclaimed classical rep, A Noise Within. His dozens of TV appearances include Frasier, all the Star Treks, a 7-year run as Ned on The Young and the Restless and a recurring role as a corporate terrorist on last season's 24. His ten films include Money Talks, Vanilla Sky, Star Trek: Nemesis and the upcoming Forgiving the Franklins. Mr. Dean has also recorded hundreds of audiobooks. He has a BA from Tufts and an MFA from Yale. |

Joan Harris-Gelb* (Helen) played Hesione Hushabye in Heartbreak House for Porchlight Theatre this summer. At ACT: Mary L. in The Time Of Your Life, Kristine Linde in A Doll's House, Violet Bradman in Blithe Spirit and Mrs. Fezziwig in A Christmas Carol. Before moving to the Bay Area 5 years ago, she appeared at ACT in the world premiere of David Hirson's Wrong Mountain and also in the Broadway production. She played Eleanor Widener in the world premiere of Titanic on Broadway and also played many parts including Mrs. Walker in the Broadway premiere of The Who's Tommy. Television includes Law & Order, The Tonight Show, Women Aloud and HBO's Brian Darling. |

Laura Hope (Carmel) happily returns to the Magic where she appeared in Rebecca Gilman’s The American in Me and served several seasons as Literary Manager and Festival Director, producing new plays festivals including A Festival of Irish Women Playwrights. Laura is a founding company member of The Shee Theatre (appearances include Jimmy Carter was a Democrat, Riddance, Ladies and Gentlemen and Augustine (Big Hysteria)), a member of Crowded Fire Theatre Company (world premiere of Erik Ehn’s ‘Maid) and an Associate Artist with Golden Thread Productions (directing Worm in the ReOrient Festival this November). A PhD candidate at UC Davis, Laura teaches at San Francisco State University. |

Ian Scott McGregor (Gurnet) is quite pleased to be playing Gurnet and doubly pleased to be returning to the Magic after having played Kurt in 3F, 4F only a few months ago. He was also seen on stage last season at the Magic in the role of Randy in the new musical The Opposite of Sex. His other credits include: The 13 Hallucinations of Julio Rivera (Magic Theatre); Anything and The New Americans (ACT); The Trestle At Pope Lick Creek (Aurora Theatre) and Seesaw (Berkeley Rep) He would like to thank his Mom, Dad, Little Sister and Muck because he loves them. |

Patricia Miller (Peg) is thrilled to be making her Magic debut, having played roles in the Magic festivals of Irish Women Writers and the Playwrights in Danger. Bay Area credits include Romeo and Juliet (Lady Capulet) and Dolly West's Kitchen (Rima, understudy) for TheatreWorks; Beautiful Thing (Sandra) and Cloud Nine (Maud/Lin) for NCTC; Bold Girls (Marie) for Viaduct; Women of Lockerbie (Chorus) for BAPF. Her teaching and directing credits include UC Riverside, California Shakespeare Festival and Aurora Theatre Education. Esther Mulligan (Lil) has been active in Bay Area theatre for several years and has worked with Berkeley Rep, Aurora Theatre and the San Francisco Playhouse, among others. Her favorite roles include Prosperpine in Candida, Moya in Red Roses and Petrol, the title role in Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Mrs. Gibbs in Our Town, Madge in Philadelphia, Here I Come, Sister Mary in Sisters and Gertrude in Hamlet. She resides in Kensington with her husband John and enigmatic cat Nicky. She dedicates her performance to her parents, Hannah and George, who reside in County Wexford, Ireland. |

Mark Phillips* (Teddy) is happy to return to Magic Theatre, where he was seen in True West, Stones in His Pockets and Kissing the Witch. With Word for Word, Mark has appeared in Stories by Tobias Wolff and Cannery Row. His many TheatreWorks credits include Dolly West’s Kitchen, Arcadia, Proof, Charley’s Aunt and The Grapes of Wrath. Other Bay Area work includes appearances with San Jose Repertory Theatre (Major Barbara), Marin Theatre Company (The Last Schwartz), Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Crowded Fire, California Shakespeare Theatre and San Francisco Shakespeare Festival. |

Anne Francisco Worden (Emer) is thrilled to be making her Magic debut. She has worked with Shakespeare Santa Cruz as Lucentio in the Shakespeare-to-Go version of The Taming of the Shrew and as Princess Victoria in The Princess and the Pea. She is a founding member of The Quixote Project, a company for which she played such roles as Andromache in Charles Mee's Trojan Women: A Love Story and Rosaura in Life is a Dream. She is a recent graduate of the UC Santa Cruz Theatre Arts department. Many thanks to her family for all their love and support. |

Paul Whitworth (Director) studied languages at St. Andrews and Oxford. He has acted and directed professionally for many years in both England and the US. He acted with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon and London from 1976 to 1982. He has played leading roles at many regional theatres in England and in the US. Recent parts in the Bay Area include George Guthrie in Night and Day (ACT, San Francisco), George in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (Shakespeare Santa Cruz) and Dr. Robert Smith in Blue/Orange ( Aurora Theatre). Mr. Whitworth began his professional directing career at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, UK. At the Lyric Hammersmith, London, he directed the English language premiere of Tirso de Molina's The Rape of Tamar, his translation of which is published by Oberon Press, London (1999). For Shakespeare Santa Cruz, he directed The Rape of Tamar, Arms and the Man, the world premieres of Cinderella, Gretel and Hansel and The Princes and the Pea and, this year, W.S.Gilbert's Engaged. For Magic Theatre, he directed the award-winning premiere of Edna O’Brien’s Triptych in 2003. Paul Whitworth is the Artistic Director of Shakespeare Santa Cruz and holds a professorship of Theatre Arts at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Risa Aratyr* (Stage Manager) is delighted to be stage managing her first production at the Magic. Since leaving her position as tech-instructor and production manager of the Sonoma Charter School Playhouse, Risa has managed The Dear Boy for Marin Theatre Company's “New Works” series, Bus Stop for their main stage and was assistant stage manager on MTC's Beggar’s Holiday. Other management credits include Relatively Speaking and She Loves Me for Napa Valley Repertory Theatre, Sonoma Valley Children's Chorale's The Gondoliers, which toured to the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in England and the landmark deaf/hearing production of The Trojan Women at Los Angeles Actors' Theatre. Kurt Landisman+ (Light Design) is pleased to return to Magic Theatre where he designed lighting for The Sweetest Swing in Baseball last season and Edna O'Brien's Triptych in 2003, which received the Bay Area Theatre Critics’ Circle Award for Best Lighting. He designed lighting for numerous new works at the Magic back in the 80’s and 90's, most notably the world premieres of Sam Shepard’s True West and Fool for Love. His lighting designs have been seen at most Bay Area theatres and have received numerous Bay Area Critics Circle and Drama-Logue Awards. Nationally, his designs have been seen in practically every state in the Union, as well as Off-Broadway in New York. Internationally his designs have been seen in Tokyo, Singapore and Shanghai. Todd Roehrman+ (Costume Design) Previous productions for the Magic include Brontë, Kissing the Witch, The Sex Habits of American Women, The 13 Hallucinations of Julio Rivera and most recently 3F, 4F. Other credits include productions for Berkeley Rep, San Jose Rep, South Coast Rep, The Mark Taper Forum, San Diego Rep, Intiman Theatre Company, Sacramento Theatre Company, Exploratorium, SF Shakespeare Festival, MTC, Traveling Jewish Theatre, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, Shakespeare Festival/LA, Matrix Theatre and Pacific Dance Ensemble. Awards include Bay Area Critics' Circle, numerous Drama-Logue and Dean Goodman Choice Awards. Mr. Roehrman received his MFA from California Institute of the Arts and is professor of Costume Design at SF State University. Norman Kern+ (Sound Design) is an award-winning designer, composer and engineer who has worked throughout the Bay Area. Recent credits include MTC's Charlie Cox Runswith Scissors and the world-premiere musical River’s End. Mr. Kern is excited about returning to the Magic where he worked on Charles Grodin’s The Right Kind of People and Rebecca Gilman’s Blue Surge. He has won awards for The Music Lesson, Misalliance and The Woman in Black. As a recording engineer/music producer he has worked with Eddie Money, Pete Escovido and Bill Graham Presents. Mr. Kern’s film credits include Park Day, Dumbarton Bridge and The Homeboy. Helena Nolan (Properties) has worked in the Bay Area for many years as a staff production manager/technical director for diverse companies including the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts, Kaiser Permanate's Educational Theatre Program and Intersection for the Arts. She helped produce the SF DadaFest, created Popcorn Anti Theater and produced events and directed plays at Gallery Spanganga during its brief three-year existence.
