As part of The Magic Theatre/Alfred P. Sloan Foundation New Science and Technology Plays Initiative, the world premiere of THE ICE-BREAKER by David Rambo opened at the Magic Theatre from March 11 – April 9, 2006.  THE ICE-BREAKER, a play exploring the relationship between two climatologists, was originally commissioned by ASK Theatre Projects at The Geffen Playhouse, Los Angeles, CA.

In addition to THE ICE-BREAKER, the world premiere of ‘BOT by C. Michèle Kaplan, directed by Chris Smith was produced during The Magic Theatre’s 05/06 season under the Sloan Initiative. ‘Bot, originally awarded a rewrite commission by Magic/Sloan Initiative, recently won the Special Recognition Award by STAGE, a new science and technology plays $10,000 competition at UCSB
